In short
StaticHero automatically keeps every version of your site as an immutable snapshot. To restore, open the site’s version history and click Restore — the change is live instantly with no re-upload. Any version can be downloaded as a ZIP backup. Free plans keep 3 versions, Starter 10, Pro 50 and Business 200.
Updated
Immutable versions
Published versions are never modified. Editing a file creates a new version rather than changing the old one.
One-click rollback
Pushed a broken page five minutes before a launch? Restore the previous version and it’s live immediately.
Portable ZIPs
Download any version as a standard ZIP that opens anywhere — your site is never locked in.
Storage-efficient
Files are stored by content hash, so unchanged images aren’t duplicated across versions.
How version history works
Each time you upload files, paste code, or save in the in-browser editor, StaticHero creates a numbered version with a note describing what changed. The live site points at exactly one version.
Restoring moves that pointer — nothing is copied or rebuilt — which is why it takes effect in milliseconds and can be undone just as quickly.
Off-site backups for peace of mind
We store your files redundantly, but it’s good practice to keep your own copy too. The ZIP button next to each version gives you a complete, ready-to-host archive of that exact version, including _redirects and other config files.
What happens when I reach my plan’s version limit?
+
The oldest versions are removed automatically. The live version is always kept, even if it’s old.
Are form submissions and analytics part of a version?
+
No. Versions contain your site’s files. Form submissions and analytics belong to the site and are unaffected by rollbacks.
Can I restore a deleted site?
+
Deleting a site permanently removes it and all its versions. Download a ZIP first if you might need it again.
Your site could be live in the next minute.
