ZIP hosting
Upload a ZIP. Get a website.
Downloaded a template, exported a site or got a project from a developer? Drop the .zip file in and StaticHero unpacks it and publishes it as a live website.

In short
StaticHero hosts websites straight from ZIP files. Upload the .zip and it’s extracted on the server, the entry page is detected (even if everything sits inside a folder), and the site goes live with HTTPS in seconds — no unzipping or FTP required. The free plan supports ZIPs whose contents are up to 10 MB.

How to host a ZIP file as a website
- 01
Keep it zipped
No need to extract — upload the archive exactly as you downloaded it.
- 02
Drop it on StaticHero
We unpack it, skip
__MACOSXand.DS_Storefiles, and find yourindex.html. - 03
It’s live
Visit your new address. Upload another ZIP any time to update.
Smart root detection
If everything is inside my-site/, we lift it so my-site/index.html becomes your homepage.
Safe extraction
Archives are validated against path traversal and zip bombs before anything is published.
Big archives welcome
Uploads stream straight to disk, so even multi-gigabyte sites on Business upload reliably.
Download it back
Every version can be downloaded as a ZIP again from version history.
What should be inside the ZIP?
Your site’s files with an index.html at the top level (or inside a single folder). If your project uses a build tool — React, Vue, Vite, Angular, Astro — zip the build output (dist, build or out), not the source code.
No index.html? We still publish: a single HTML page becomes the homepage, and an archive of documents gets an automatic file index.
Sharing a ZIP file for download
Want people to download the .zip itself rather than view a website? Put the archive inside a folder (optionally with a small download page) and upload that folder. The ZIP will be available at a direct download link.
Which archive formats are supported?
+
Standard .zip archives, including those made by macOS Finder, Windows Explorer and most template marketplaces. RAR and 7z aren’t supported — re-save as ZIP.
My site loads but images are missing.
+
Usually the HTML uses absolute paths like /Users/you/site/img.png or C:\ paths. Change them to relative paths like img/photo.png and upload again.
Are executable files allowed?
+
No. For security, executables and server scripts (.exe, .php, .sh and similar) are rejected.
Your site could be live in the next minute.
