HTML file upload
Upload one HTML file. Get a link anyone can open.
Got a single .html file from ChatGPT, Claude, a designer or an export? Upload it and share a real web address instead of an attachment that opens as code.
- Steps
- Drag, drop, done
- Max size (free)
- 10 MB
- Works with
- Any .html / .htm
- Link
- HTTPS, permanent
In short
To share an HTML file as a web page, upload it to StaticHero: the file becomes the homepage of a site at yourname.statichero.site, served over HTTPS, viewable on any device. Inline CSS and JavaScript keep working. It’s free and takes about five seconds.

How to turn an HTML file into a link

Create an account with Google or email.
- 02
Drop the .html file
Whatever it’s called, it becomes your site’s homepage (
index.html). - 03

yourname.statichero.site— it opens as a proper web page on phones, laptops and in chat previews.
No more “open in browser” instructions
Email attachments and Slack uploads open .html files as raw code or get blocked. A link just works.
Replace it any time
Upload a new version of the file and the same link updates instantly.
Edit in the browser
Fix a typo without re-uploading: open the file in the built-in code editor and press save.
Keep it private
Add a password on paid plans, or set the page to expire after a date.
Try it
Paste your code, publish in seconds
Paste HTML or a React component. We’ll keep it while you create your free account, then publish it.
Why sharing .html files as attachments doesn’t work
Most email clients, Slack, Teams and phone browsers either block .html attachments as a security risk or show the raw code. Even when the file opens, external fonts, scripts and fetch() calls are often blocked because the page is running from a file:// address.
Serving the file from a real HTTPS address fixes all of that. It also gives you a link preview, a QR code, and the ability to update the page without resending anything.
Single-file pages from AI tools
AI assistants are brilliant at producing self-contained HTML pages — calculators, landing pages, interactive reports, mini-games. They usually put all CSS and JavaScript inline, which makes them perfect for single-file upload.
If you have code but not a file, use Paste code instead: paste the HTML (or even a React component) straight into StaticHero and we’ll build the page for you. See Claude artifacts hosting and ChatGPT hosting.
When your page needs more files
If your HTML references images or stylesheets in separate files, upload the whole folder (or a ZIP of it) instead of just the .html file. Relative paths like images/logo.png will then resolve correctly.
My file isn’t called index.html — does that matter?
+
No. When you upload a single HTML file we publish it as the homepage automatically, whatever its name.
Can people download my HTML source?
+
Like every website, the HTML a browser receives can be viewed with “View source”. Don’t put secrets such as API keys in client-side code.
Will the link work on phones?
+
Yes. Pages are served over HTTPS with correct content types, so they open in any mobile browser and in in-app browsers like Instagram, WhatsApp and Slack.
How long does the link last?
+
As long as your account exists. Free sites don’t expire. On paid plans you can optionally set an expiry date yourself.
Your site could be live in the next minute.
One site free, forever. No credit card, no setup, no servers.
